Gundy takes $1M pay cut after Oklahoma State review

Oklahoma State will cut the pay of football coach Mike Gundy by $1 million and restructure his contract following an investigation into his relationship with his team.Athletic director Mike Holder said on a video chat with reporters on Friday that Gundy volunteered to take the reduction in pay. In the 2020 season, he was scheduled to earn $5.125 million.He also agreed to alter his five-year rollover contract, which added a year at the end of every season and never expired. Instead, his contract is a four-year rollover.Holder said Gundy recommended that, too.”I commend him for that,” Holder said.Gundy’s buyout also was reduced from 75 percent of his contract to 50 percent, the Tulsa World reported.Holder announced Thursday that the internal review of Gundy’s behavior did not reveal evidence of racism.
